On December 30, 1965-January 2, 1966 Explorer Post 360 and guests (15 total) did a ten mile round trip snowshoe trip to Taft Point in Yosemite National Park.
We left San Diego in a rainstorm - camped under a shelter at Millerton State Park. Misty during night.
The next day with the snow level at 2500' travel was slow. We arrive late and at 3p.m. started from Badger Pass - 3 or 4 miles on Glacier Point Road to camp.
During the night we had a foot and a half of fresh snow and heavy snow all morning. We snowshoed back to the cars. The weather was clearing as we left Badger Pass Ski Lodge for Yosemite Valley.
We spent the night in 2 cabins in Yosemite Valley - Beautiful New Year's Day - Snowshoed to Mirror Lake and Vernal Falls.
Camped at Millerton Lake State Park for the night and were home at a good hour.
