Sierra Nevada - Yosemite National Park - Taft Point-Sentinel Dome Winter Trip 1970

On January 1-4, 1970 Explorer Post 360 and guests - Don Deck, Gil Beilke, Roy Wagner, Wendell Stewart, Tim McSweeney, Ed Immenschuh, Glenn Wyatt, Don Davis, Roger Getz, Carl Foster, Greg Warfield, Dale Caldwell hiked in 7 miles from Summit Mdw and camped near Taft Point Trail (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). One of the cars, owned by one of the boys, had car trouble and we had to rent a car to continue the trip. The owner's father came and retrieved the car.

There was little snow. We hiked to Taft Point for fine views - then to Sentinel Dome for more fine views and back to camp (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.).

The next day we hiked out, toured Yosemite Valley and drove to Lake Isabella for the night. Beautiful weather - no wind - cold 5° & 0°
